Canadians’ are serious about hunting down child-sex predators and providing these individuals with the help they need, as well as giving effected youngsters the helping hand they need to recover from the trauma associated with being sexually abused, if this is actually possible?
Recently, the amount of miles we have actually traveled on the road to these goals became, unfortunately, obvious due to the lack of concrete effectiveness in the case of a little 8 year old girl named, Evelyn.
Evelyn had reported incidences of sexual misconduct in 2005 and 2006 by a family member, a consistent report apparently of who, what and where the sexual abuse occurred.
Despite this, the family member indicated as being the abuser by the young girl continues to live free to abuse in our society again and the young girl never did receive the helping hand she needs to recover from the ordeal, from the government officials supposedly responsible for providing the necessary help the young girl vitally needs.
Canadians’ are asking, why?
Apparently, the government body tasked with bringing this abuser to justice and providing the help abused youngsters need to begin the healing process of recovering from being abused by sick and deprived individuals, obviously in need of help themselves, has failed this young girl and probably many others.
During their twenty-month investigation, which probably should have only taken a few weeks, considering it required talking to five adults and one child, the BC justice system managed to totally drop the ball and leave a young girl adrift on an ocean of trauma and despair.
Job well done, once again!
For their part, legal officials for the BC government say that the real problem was the non-disclosure of important facts concerning the case, which they say put the validity of the young girl’s story in doubt and raise reasonable doubt in the case.
A very unfortunate situation, if all the facts we’ve been given are accurate, which is always in doubt when were dealing with humans, but one that we as British Columbians’ and the BC legal system has been through before and therefore why hasn’t a solution been found to try to alleviate this growing problem.
A good question and one I’m sure many British Columbian’s will be asking themselves after reading this.
